The Psalms were the hymn book of the people of the Old Testament and people have been singing prayers since before we can remember.

The early church sang prayers  see Ephesians 5.18-19 and Colossians 3.16 and since then the church has been praying in song and music.This means that we have the richest heritage of prayer and music.
